As part of Guided Busway project, 32 bus stops on the 38 route through Houghton Regis are soon to be upgraded with raised kerbs and real time information saying when the next bus is coming. Some bus shelters may be replaced. Work will start in about 3 weeks time. Temporary bus stops may be provided close to the original bus stop site.

The moment this bus shelter in Parkside Drive, Houghton Regis, left the ground. 35 bus shelters in Houghton Regis are among those being replaced in Luton and Central Bedfordshire as part of the Luton Busway project. The new stops will provide real-time information on bus times, and higher kerbs to make passenger access easier.

Paper models of the the final artwork to be chosen for the Central Bedfordshire area were on display in libraries in Houghton Regis and Dunstable on Tuesday. In all, four works will be created from the models to be placed along the route. The designs were created after consulting with local schools, and consideration by the artist of the remit to create things that reflected local enterprise and industry. Whatever final choice of artwork is made, one thing's for sure. The "duck" will be reappearing on the Church Street bridge in Dunstable.

New Information Cabinets Natural England and the Busway have funded the installation of 7 new information cabinets for Blow’s Downs and the mitigation land. Three of these will replace existing cabinets. The new cabinets, two of which have been installed already, have a notice board section for news updates and posters, as well as the more permanent interpretation panel. http://www.wildlifebcn.org

When open, buses will be able to enter the busway from Church Street Dunstable via a slip road to the left of this picture. Cars queue here in Dunstable as roadworks started this weekend, expected to improve traffic flow around MacDonalds/Sainsbury petrol station.

The bus way is increasing in popularity amongst Luton Town supporters. Here is a picture I took whilst waiting for a bus after the match. I'm on the platform waiting for a bus back to Dunstable and you can see the crowd extends down to the pedestrian crossing. If it gets even more popular, the bus companies will need to lay on extra buses.
